YCombinator No Longer Invests in Canadian Startups

I know there are a few people based in Canada and interested in startups on here, I saw this news today.

Very interesting, I wonder why they did this - does Canada have strict business/startup laws and regulations?

I read the workaround is to just register and incorporate within the US, which isn't complicated but is probably just more cost-prohibitive and annoying for people in Canada.

Stumbled upon this yesterday. As a Canadian planning to create a startup myself, this is very disappointing! I don't want to have my finances managed in the USA!

In Canada, starting a business costs money, to get registration, and be licensed. There's also a lot of paperwork and taxwork involved which is why I can see the reason why they stopped investing in startups here.

Interesting. Not sure if you have thought about this yet - I'm just curious - are you planning on going to college, and if so, which major would you pick to supplement your entrepreneurial side?

Just curious what you'd pick haha

I'm pushing for university, maybe an MBA.
Entrepreneurship is a little side thing I do at the moment, just for funsies.

Nice
