Agreed. This would be a very useful feature. I tried sending links in a comment and it wouldn't let me. Would it be possible to incorporate that as well?

Done. Links in chat should be clickable now. I was a bit worried about spam initially but we have the infrastructure to handle it better now. Thanks for reminding me!
