gang as a community we should be focusing on making as broad as possilbe communites

we are a super small site and when we do get new users i want them to see active subs, if we make subs that are super niche ie. for a single game or a certain band. we should be focusing on the already existing broader communities like gaming and music

although i myself am guilty of making nicheish communities like c/kpop and c/linux i feel like we should from this point forward help maintain content for the broader communites while leaving the niche ones as more fun side communites we can develop into something bigger when we have a bigger user base

Another interesting thing about the niche posts is that some of them actually rank on the search engines, and we've been slowly getting traffic and new users from that.

Example if you search "rift of beginnings shape of dreams" - OddsRabbit is actually #1 or #2. So more awesome niche content posts is actually great for the platform haha

Really appreciate you brainstorming for OddsRabbit! You make a solid point. The broader communities are definitely a way to appeal to the wider audience.

At the same time I also don't want anyone to feel like they shouldn't create and focus on their niche communities either. I think the niche communities are where the passion really lies.

I think the move is both - to share, comment, and post whenever you can in broader communities but also don't hold back on the niche topics that genuinely have a fanbase.

I think there might also be an issue with the community structure/incentive right now that I can (and already have a plan to) tweak.

I'm thinking a contributor system (similar to Yelp Elite, etc.) to reward our most active members across all communities would be very cool - and exciting. Thinking swag, events, contributor badges, private community etc. That way, we can encourage users to explore and contribute across all different communities. What are your thoughts on this?
