Bread anyone?
Mixed media, upcycled, leftovers abound for this one.
Back stories
The Bread:
Many moons ago my daughter and I were on a long walk on the beach. She picked up a rock and said this one looks like a loaf of bread. I carried that damn rock for miles so I knew I had to do something with it.
The cutting board:
One of my renters left behind an solid, old couch when the moved. i tore it apart and saved, its solid wood components. They don't build 'em like they use to. haha
The knife:
Scraps of maple & mahogany pulled from the bin.
The project:
I had the "bread slices" cut by a local lapidarist. The end grain cutting board is made from the bones of that old couch and the knife I fabricated from a couple of pieces of scrap wood. I didn't put any finish on the wooden components because I wanted it all to be raw like the rock / bread.
It was fun to bring to life a project that formed in my mind the moment my daughter said, Dad, this rock looks like a loaf of bread.
Happy Monday. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
