Skyrim Rabbits!

Can we be a social site without the most fantastic of all Elder Scroll games having it's own community?! I think not!

I really like this site and figure we need a Skyrim location! I'll add some flairs and such, but for the first post - I'm starting a new playthrough challenge tonight! An Imperial Arkay priest! I'll walk you guys through the rules I'm setting myself:

  • Armor: My primary restrictions will be: Heavy Armor for the hands/feet. I always have to wear the strongest heavy armor I can find here with one restriction (below). Only clothing for body, and either hoods or circlets. Rings are also fine, amulet/necklace spot will be reserved for the amulet associated with the divine I'm picking. Heavy shields are also acceptable.
  • Weapons: Axes only. Arkay priests use the axe as a common funnery symbol, used to symbolize clearing a path for the soul to return to Arkay.
  • Enchanting/Smithing/Alchemy: Smithing is fine, but not a focus. Alchemy is a strong focus. Enchanting is a strict no, since it sends souls to the Soul Cairn and that's a very big sin against Arkay.
  • Magic: Restoration and Destruction (fire) full stop. Absolutely NO conjuration (raising the dead is very bad). Destruction and cold/lightning will be ignored. I'll use alteration as well (especially for the armor spells).
  • Deadric Quests: NONE! Or, side with the people. No Deadric gear either. No enchanted gear. Enchanted items need to be sold immediately. No soul gems - they're a sin against Arkay.
  • General Thrust: I'm going to focus on supporting the Empire, stopping Deadra whereever I can, and clearing out tombs. I'm going to align with the Dawnguard and the College of Winterhold (But I won't do the quest, just want to be able to study there). Early game, I'm going to focus on getting into Whiterun and getting an amulet of Arkay. Then, I'm going to clear out the Silver Moon bandit camp to get some early gear to help with undead killing!

This should be really fun. For a base of operations, I'm going to take either the Golden Hills Estate or Tundra Homestead.

Honestly I’ve never played (it gave me motion sickness lol, maybe from the cart scene?) but nice to see a Skyrim community!

Day 1: Okay some things have not gone to plan, some things have gone very well. I am using some CC content. Mostly armor packs.

I have yet to secure an amulet of Arkay, though I've helped settle the dead at the Whiterun burial site. I thought that you got an amulet of arkay as a quest reward and was wrong haha! I also don't yet have 7500 septims to purchase the Tundra Homestead yet! Goldhills is free, so I'll head there next.

However, I have hit level four, and have put two points into restoration, one point into one handed, and have one point left to spend. I am playing survival mode, so I have to find a place to sleep to level up!

What is really working:

  • I am using a shield right now, so I'm making a lot of vegetable soup and fortify health/stamina potions. So I pop both potions and a veggie soup which allows for infinite power strikes/shield bashes while I'm under the effect. Using this strategy, I was able to take out the five smugglers just west of Whiterun under the city wall.
  • After battles I heal up. I have not put as much emphasis on magic vs health right now. Due to being in survival mode I'm doing the following level strategy: 2 H/1 S/1 M (2 levels to health, 1 to stamina, 1 to magic). This will help me level fairly evening.

So next:

I'm going to hit a few more bandit camps and try to kite the fights to favor my skills. I'm going to look for useful monk robes. I have also just added a new restriction: No Ancient Nord weapons. That's looting from the dead and is not acceptable. Right now I'm using an Iron War Axe I improved at a grindstone, and a banded iron shield (made it!) and iron boots/gauntlets (made them!).

I'm then going to head to Goldenhill Estates, and after Goldhills I'm going to Markeath to do the hall of the dead quest there which SHOULD give me an Arkay amulet!

🙌 do you stream?

no... i dont play enough haha

I love Skyrim. Great game!

Tell me about your latest playthrough :)

I haven’t played in about 10 years, but my most recent playthrough ended with me spending many hours in Deepreach when I stumbled into it unknowingly.

hahaha i hate that place

Yup, Skyrim is definitely one of the big subs we're missing. I'd love to go back and play these again. It's just finding the time these days... and that backlog lol

Day 2: Last night was productive, but not in the way I was expecting. I need cash and supplies - as this version of skyrim (survival) is brutal! I was over by Loreius Farm, and a blizzard roled in. I barely made it to Whitewatch Tower and the large torches there for warmth. EEK!

As a result, I'm rethinking strategy. I have made a few frost resistance potions, but they will only protect me for a few minutes. I need to get that boosted up. Also, my gear - I will need better cold weather survival gear, and camping equipment. I will have to stay in the warmer southern parts of Skyrim for now.

Before heading to Goldenhills (today's goal), I did take the time to clear out Halted Stream camp and the Valtheim Towers. These were TOUGH challenges. However, there was a bounty for Halted Stream and Armen's Sword ended up in Valtheim. It was fine. I spent about three hours running back and forth to loot and sell, loot and sell. It was worth it as I'm now over 6000 septims - but the merchants around here are broke, and I'm still short.

But I am really happy! I got two major dungeons done and my block skill is skyrocketing due to my veggie soup powered shield smashing shennanigans. More to come!
