my ex actually knew his tartan, the Loud MacLeod. It is... loud. Looking it up just now to make sure I had it right, I saw a couple sources saying the clan motto (of the MacLeods of Lewis) is "Luceo non uro" or "I birn quhil I se" which don't mean quite the same thing. But I thought the first one was the Mackenzie clan motto, damn Outlander lied to me xD Orrrr, apparently the Mackenzies seized a lot of MacLeod lands in the 17th century and decided to take the motto and heraldry too.
