Whats your least favourite pizza style and whats your favourite style?

Discussion

My most favourite pizza styles are Neapolitan, New York, Detroit and Chicago Tavern style and Chicago pan style (Milly's, Burts, Pequods).

My least favourite style is beach pizza. The sauce is way too sweet. A close second is Chicago Deep Dish (Yes its pizza. Its based on an italian pie called pizza rustica).

The strangest pizza style I've ever seen is Altoona style pizza, although I dont find it offensive as a concept.

Controversially, I really don't like hawaiian! I dont like the concept of mixing sweetness and saltiness.

I'm a recent convert. I used to hate it, but pineapple and jalapeno relish with ham on a pizza is the tits.

It definitely has to be done properly I think.

I've never heard of Beach or altoona style pizza before lol. We're so snobby with our pizza in NY, I don't think too many other styles survive here.

Having said that, from googling, the beach pizza looks almost like frozen pizza? Not a big fan of what I'm seeing in google images lol

So New York has a lot of really really good pizza slices. Most Australians (since I used to work for Finder, a lot of sydney coworkers viisted) that I brought around, they LOVED the simple new york style - thin, crispy from Joe's.

Personally I think it's quite good as well but it's less unique imo since it's close in style to all the other New York style slices. So it's more of a "I'm used to this style of pizza" sorta thing. For me, I like Prince Street Pepperoni squares the most - it's thick, I love the curled-up pepperoni, and the style is quite unique in New York.

Going to share the two below incase you haven't heard of them, and want to do some pizza research haha

Cup and char pepperoni is really hard to get a hold of here unless you buy in bulk. Very annoying.

Yep I'm very familiar with Prince Street Pizza. I've heard Bleecker St isn't as good as it's made out to be. Or maybe that's John's.

Ah that's annoying. Since I do think they're very "instagramable"/"tiktokable" which is so important nowadays lol

New England beach pizza is a thin crust square. Usually topped with provolone and a ridiculously sweet sauce.

The science behind the sweeter sauce is to compensate for the salt in the air due to being near the ocean.

It's wisely considered to be one of the worst styles of pizza.

Altoona style pizza is what a Sicilian pizza would be if it were made by a college student 2 days before payday.

if I'm being honest, the photos track for what you're saying about those 2 pizza types hahah
