Opening post, who tf am i to want to open and mod a Metal sub and my metal journey.

Ok, so, i'm a bit old school but can get down with whatever. My music roots are pretty basic. ACDC were the first band to blow my tiny teen mind when i was about 13. Pre that it was whatever played on the radio in the old mans car and his records, mainly '70's gear like Boz Scaggs (very damn cool) Hot Chocolate, ELO and even Barbara Streisand amongst his mix.

I met a guy at school who introduced me to a little album called Let there be Rock. The title track stole my soul. I needed more and there was plenty more. I think i listened to ACDC for a year straight going through every album up until waiting for the latest album at the time, Flick of the Switch. This was my music, i had found it.

From there it was Judas Priest who were my first full Metal band, blown away again by the duo guitar stylings of Tipton and KK. Had a solid metal moment in a car miles from nowhere out of Darwin, Australia on a dusty road in the outback. Just blowing a joint with a mate in an old beat up Datsun. We put on Killing Machine and blasted it out of his tinny car speakers across the Australian scrub while we sat on tge roof speaking shit and looking at the stars. It was awesome.

Iron Maiden followed and then Metallica, a girl played Battery for me at a pool party and god damn. Mind blown again. Megadeth followed shortly after then it just ballooned, Slayer, Sepultura, Exodus, Testament, Ozzy..i even swapped one of Dads ELO records for a Twisted Sister record somewhere along the way.

Motley Crue, Def Leppard, the legend that is Joe Satriani got an ear in along the way but we never had a lot of content in Darwin in the '80's and early '90's. Small town at the top of Aus, we were years behind any trends. Pantera was massive in our group when they dropped though, seemed like ashift in Metak when Cowboys dropped.

I poo pooed nu metal at first but SOAD sold me and even Durst and crew had some bangers. Slipknot, Parkway, Arch Enemy and then my daughter got into some really down and dirty stuff once she found her own tunes Death, Cannibal Corpse, Entombed, Gojira, Opeth and more. Keeps me from staying stuck with only the metal i listened too and appreciating current. Same with my lad.

Been to everything metal i could get to when we moved to the 'big smoke' in Brisbane and finally got to see the big four across several different concerts and festivals, several times. Linkin Park, Fooeys, Bizkit, SOAD in the early 2000s as well and a plethora of smaller metal bands that have been awesome.

Ton of bands i haven't mentioned, just the big ones that influenced me the most in my music direction although now i also have a ton of chill in the mix, Andain, Radiohead, Telepop, Royksopp and a hundred others. Music is sick and the journey is awesome.

Besides all that, i imagine we are here because either Reddit just isn't Reddit anymore, and hasn't been for years and we are attempting to avoid non stop politics, mods with too much power and hopefully ai slop. Somewhere we can post, be a bit wild west and not worry about the banhammer for jackshit rules.
