I heard Linux is a great way to enter the dark web or something, is that true?

I heard from somewhere that Linux was a way for hackers to enter and use the dark web with vpns and stuff, how true is that?

Some Linux distros specialize in privacy. Tails has a feature where you can choose not to have persistent memory, Have the machine itself be connected to TOR directly, and run the entire thing from a USB stick. If you pull the stick out, Linux crashes and all your data is gone.

Also since MOST distros are not owned by any major corporation and are open-source operating systems, you can be very certain that they are not spying on you.

Yes! There’s no tracking in like 99% of distros

Can I ask what a distro is? Kinda new to this OS stuff hehe

A distro is a os that runs on Linux, linux is just a software kernel not a OS in itself, so stuff like Ubuntu and fedora are their own distributions of the Linux kernel

Ohh ok that makes sense, so it's like how there's different browsers running on Chromium

yes kinda like that
