I don't think it's mandatory though. I think you can skip it, but you wouldn't be able to access 18+ sites (or whatever the age is in your region) ...of course, that would suck I suppose.
@Cord although I'm pretty sure that uploading a credit card will suffice as age verification. The whole point is just to verify you're an adult...not you actual age.
I guess it's easy for me to say, as I've never had to verify my age with Apple.
I’d prefer to do neither and I need access to that.
