Reddit “r/alternatives” are hiding posts containing the words “OddsRabbit”..

So they are banning users, hiding posts that contain “OddsRabbit”

I’m not sure why maybe they are jealous this platform is better than lemmy and whatever garbage they recommend but I’d stray far away from this subreddit if you even use Reddit anymore.

Haha that's great. I've been away from here for a few weeks, mostly life stuff, but I'm also finding it difficult to stay off of reddit when I need advice or technical help or anything, because there's just so many people there so I expect quicker and more responses.

But I was reminded yesterday that it's probably not worth it. Asked a technical question about Android on my Moto, on r/AndroidQuestions, *after* first googling it, not finding the answer, then using Gemini which kept contracting itself, so I decided to go to real people, went to that sub and also searched for my topic before posting, obviously did not find it. I mentioned in the post that when I tried to Google it, it was taking me to topics that sound similar but don't answer my question, and that I then tried to use AI for it.

And the very first comment I got was someone saying "that's a dumb thing to ask, go Google it".
Which I then saw from their history, is a favorite activity of theirs, hanging out on practical support subs and commenting "Google it" 🙄

I don't understand what drives people to do that. I'm so sick of reddit. Socializing here is definitely better, but for help topics I think we don't have enough people yet. But I'm definitely going to try to post here first next time if it can keep me off reddit..

For Android, I still gravitate towards XDA for technical questions. Obviously not trying to play down bringing conversation here, but that's a great place to get straight answers without morons and trolls getting in the way.

I'll give that a try, thanks!

ew AI..

Yeah, I know.. I have mixed feelings because I've discovered what a huge accessibility tool it can be for AuDHD and energy-limiting illnesses. Recently found out I have ME/CFS as well, and the combination means I barely have the time or energy to take care of myself, and ironically the Android issue was part of taking care of myself.

Trying to find a way to have a default call volume and not have it stay at whatever volume it was at when I ended my last call. It's a sensory accommodation, the autism makes it painful when a call starts with a recording and is at 100% volume because that's how loud I often need it to actually hear people on the phone. Recordings and menus are always much much louder. Then the ADHD makes me forget to fix it before another call, although what I found out yesterday makes it seem that even if I could remember, I would still have to lower the volume before the other person hangs up, because changing it while not in a call does absolutely nothing, it just goes right back to where it was from your last call. Which begs the question of why they even let you access a volume bar for calls outside of a call, since it doesn't actually do anything.

Anyway I didn't mean to get into all that >__<

My point was, technical issues like this, or trying to find information and resources for my conditions, can take hours (often more than 2 or 3) and all my remaining energy for the day. AI can often at least point me towards the sources I need with much less energy cost, so that once I've found the answer I might actually be able to implement it, maybe even in the same day! lol

Honestly for my conditions the accommodation I really need is a personal assistant. But no way in hell I can get one, so I have to work with what I can access, for free. It is scummy, and yet another way for the rich to exploit the poor, but there it is.

I mean for an accurate conclusion you'd have to make the same post without the word oddsrabbit and see if that gets removed. It could be the word merch or anything really. Their filters are so wonky its quite difficult to pinpoint what triggers it exactly. I agree reddit is trash in general tho.

They also mentioned people who genuinely care. There's two red flags right there.

they don’t even care they just slam slop Lemmy down your throat.

Yeah I tried Lemmy. Couldn't get on with that, at all.

For me in my community I had no issues, but I only used it in the title.

But did realise that I get less views on those posts (posted twice in my community).

Both posts only got 200-300 views, but with other post similar to that I can get 1k - 3k+ views, but other of my post can get 5k - 70k+ views.

Ooh thanks for creating a post about oddsrabbit! I have a feeling it’s Reddit’s filter on new accounts rather than getting banned from there, but I’ll go ask the mods over there.

Any updates?

JingJunMa Self-designated Silly Goose Ambassador 1w

Nope, maybe next few days lol

Still nothing?

JingJunMa Self-designated Silly Goose Ambassador 4d

Ah. They got back to me, they said they didn't do anything and oddsrabbit isn't banned there.

Apparently, anything that mentions "this post was removed by reddit's filters" is Reddit's own automation which they have no control of.

Usually due to a low karma score account or VPN or something.

I had 3k karma, I wasn’t in violation of any TOS and my account was wiped for no reason. Can you ask them to look into my account for me? my Reddit is - @VastEngines thanks.

Oh Ok.

Ironically enough, every single social media alternative website i have found was through the subreddit Reddit Alternatives. This is also an important reminder to always have a variety of social media accounts so that if one site gets overtaken by Nazis or AI slop, you can already have a different platform established.

Cord Self-designated Silly Goose AmbassadorOP 2w

hey nothing wrong with nazis 🤷‍♂️ also I do that already I have multiple accounts and emails and 2FA’s.

You forgot the (/s) regarding that nazi comment 🧐

We need more merch.

Cord Self-designated Silly Goose AmbassadorOP 1w

true. I’d love a hoodie

I want a giant bag. I also want to design tee shirts but i can only do abstract art

Reddit filters most likely means this person was making lot of same/similar posts in very short periods of time, so system flagged it as a spam bot.

Cord Self-designated Silly Goose AmbassadorOP 2w

I wasn’t lol

Doesn't work too well, got via reddit here. 🤭

Did they or Reddit do this? Reddit filters usually mean Reddit, so Reddit is hiding it.

But anyways, I bet that Subreddit is owned by Lemmy glorifiers.
