Clicking on any notification seems to mark all of them as "not new"
Every once in awhile, I'll see the notifications bell light up red with multiple notifications. When I click the bell, then click on one of the notifications, all notifications end up disappearing from the bell. This forces me to click "view all notifications" and go look for the ones I haven't actually read yet.

All notifications are marked as 'read' when the dropdown is opened.
However, the issue is with a recent ui/ux change where 'read' notifications are removed from the dropdown (it used to stay in there). This was an attempt to clean it up but it caused the ui/ux issue you've flagged.
Need to change the system a bit.
