I don't put any faith in allegations made by an anonymous source. For all we know, it could be a disgruntled loser in the contest Orelien won. Still - we are living in very strange times.
Agree. This one is very tricky because it can go either way, but I'm leaning towards believing the author. AI writing is still very easily recognizable, and his novel is good enough to win a major French literary prize. If AI writing is that good, we wouldn't have all the "ai slop" comments all over the internet right now - but if it is, then content and writing in general is f'd anyway lol
I also lean toward believing the author. He said he completed a draft several years ago and could easily produce it to prove it, I think. But I review books, and there are a slew of them that are not only AI-generated, but people don't edit them, making it more noticeable.
