I'm curious to know why people post their pictures on c/selfies. Wouldn't it be safer to stay a little bit more anonymous?

I think anonymity is still only a concern for a small amount of users. Look how big Instagram is, and they just basically launched a new selfie feature “instants” or something like that lol
A lot of Gen Z people are acutely privacy-aware, though, maybe even more so than older generations. They have private accounts, finstas, selective audiences, disappearing stories, or alt accounts where they’re much more careful about who sees what. They really don’t seem to be less worried about the risks of doxing, stalking, fake accounts and deepfakes than older generations.

But in short: every like, heart or whaterver reaction gives you validation, that gives a dopamine boost.
It's very dangerous and was proven that people using social media very often have worse mental health.
I can easily imagine that those dopamine boosts can be addictive, but I fail to see how "nanodomain coupling between Ca2+ channels and sensors of exocytosis at fast mammalian synapses" is related to this phenomenon. I'm a bit puzzled.
For many the craving of popularity is more important than safety and we live in a culture where people post everything online.
I don't know, I personally don't get it. I mean if they want to do that I guess that's up to them but overall I agree with you that's not something that I would be doing
I'm with you on that. I prefer anonymity and that's why my face is not out there for the web to see.
Yump. Especially if you piss the wrong person off by accident even by saying the wrong thing Man they will go through your entire life online and try to ruin it
With AI it's not too hard for someone to take your face or body, put it on another body or face and before you know it, you're a porn star.😂 That's why it's important to not support deep fake porn. It's just wrong.
