"oe-way oe-WAY-oe way-oe WAYY-oe WAY OH, (repeat 1x)

I always wake up with a song in my head. It’s sometimes hard to get rid of it.

Does the song change how you feel about the day, or is it just more background noise?

The song I wake up with tends to influence how I feel about the day. Or, rather, the moment.

Usually, during the day there are little triggers that pull different tunes to the surface in an instant. Yesterday, for instance, a colander rolled across the floor, producing a distinctive rattling sound. Bam, Blasphemous Rumours by Depeche Mode flickered on inside my head, a song in which that very same noise has a prominent place. Scents and images(visual cues?) can awaken songs too. At one point, all of that led me straight into Circles by Post Malone. Songs that pop up that way could be considered background noise, I guess.

It's on 24/7

Broke that radio a long time ago.

haha

I'm often playing jam sessions in my head and I can hear (or think?) multiple instruments at the same time!

Oh wow! What do you play?

Nothing... It's all in my head 🤣
(I do play guitar and make some music in FL studio actually!)

I was humming the song in my head yesterday and my friend's kid said "stop singing that sucky song" 😂😭

Most of the time, yep. Apparently it's fairly common in ADHD. Some people, like my sister, don't mind it. She sings and dances to her songs, and she has some control over what's stuck in her head.

Mine annoy me unless I'm in a pretty good mood. When I'm extra stressed, the music is more constant and "louder", as in it distracts me. Had a weird period a couple years ago during a sort of anxiety flare-up, where I kept waking up between 4 and 6 am even if I went to bed late, and the music in my head was WAKING ME UP. It was awful.

Funnily, the music got a lot quieter and less annoying when I started ADHD meds. lol

ETA: Oh, and the really weird thing is within days of starting Vyvanse, I was suddenly able to enjoy external music for the first time in like a decade. I somehow stopped listening to music in my early 20s and could only really enjoy it when drinking. Quit drinking, and just never felt like listening to music. But my appreciation came back when I started the ADHD meds, it's so weird.

Vyvanse should hire you as their spokesperson haha.

That’s wild, never knew it was that LOUD for certain people. Mine’s just a lovely background music

haha right? Tbf, different meds work better for different people. And it's only part of my meds regiment. But I do hear that more people can tolerate Vyvanse even if other meds have had side effects that are too harsh for them.

Yeah I've never met anyone else who had the music wake them up in the morning lol. But I finally looked up "music in head" on an ADHD sub because my family was complaining about my need to always have a show or audiobook going, even when in the shower. Found tons of posts asking about it, many of them from people who were very frustrated and desperate to make it stop. It was good to see I wasn't alone at least.

I do this thing where I leave the blow dryer on, it acts like a white noise that drowns out everything else lol
