When did you realize you became the “easy one” the one who just stays quiet and adapts?

For me it wasn’t one moment. It was more like slowly learning to stay quiet so everything stays “okay”. Now I can fit in anywhere but I don’t actually know who I am without adjusting.

Anyone else knows this feeling?

The day before I left an "I quit" post-it on my desk and never went back.

People used to say that “the squeaky wheel gets oiled”

Nowadays, it just gets replaced by a less squeaky wheel.

I’ve replied under the below comment

I always heard it as “ the squeaky wheel gets the grease”

I heard people in Japan say "The nail that sticks out gets hammered down"

People used to say “the squeaky wheel gets oiled” and “the nail that sticks out gets hammered down”

Feels like now it doesn’t even matter which one you are. So you learn to become the “easy one”, not because it’s who you are, but because it keeps things from breaking.

The problem is, after a while you don’t even know, if you’re choosing it anymore or if that’s just what you became.
