When I first saw the comedy movie Idiocracy, there was a scene where multiple buildings were tied together to keep them standing and a highway was half finished, sending cars to a pile of crashed vehicles below.
I thought to myself, “that’s hilarious. But seriously, how would we ever get to a point where we have large structures and infrastructure falling apart at that scale with no humans who knew how to fix it?”
Then, seeing this graph today, I can’t help but laugh that this “theoretical capability” essentially paints the exact picture I thought would be impossible.
