Ai and creative writing
Hey so, I just stumbled across this site and made an account a few minutes ago. This is my first post – and if I'm being honest, at the moment I don't fully know how everything works, but I would like to find people that I can talk to about specific topics and situations of mine. The whole reason why I searched for a chat platform that does not consist of AI is very specific. In school, a teacher gave us a task for our last lessons to write a dystopian story. We received worksheets and tasks that require time to plan everything out. However, we have to do it with AI. Everything. It really irritated me that the creative writing part of class will now consist of training and working with many different AI models in groups. I talked to her about it. I explained why I try to not use AI, why I think the only dystopian thing in the real world right now is AI, and what power it has over us.She didn't really get my point and said: "I'm unsure what to do, the task requires you to critique different models and should teach you how to use AI correctly." Again, she did not get my point...I would just like to find people who might be interested in the topic of why AI should not be part of creative work. It feels dystopian that I am the odd one out just because I do not want to use it for creative writing.I'm posting this in the "AI" and "Writing" communities. Again, I'm new, so sorry if this is the wrong place. I am hoping to find people who know about the impact of AI, as well as people in the writing community who would like to turn these ideas and problems into the dystopian story that I will write for my school project...So yeah, I'm hopeful to find someone. Just reply to this post, I'm happy for any feedback :)

Hey, thanks for your post! You're very welcome in here :)
For a second I thought you were about to advertise for AI models lol
Soo, if I understood well, your teacher tasked you to write a story using only AI and pull out a critique of it? (is it still ongoing btw?)
From what I see - I am not a teacher although I've got a certificate ^^' - your teacher doesn't want you to generate a story and tweak the prompts for the best match possible and critique what the bot lacks. What the teacher wants you to do is to generate a story and find out why it is an ill tool for creative process (i.e. the models often follow a TOS which prevents it to embrasse controversies, while major litterary pieces almost always embrace controversies). And when the teacher says "teach you to use AI correctly" maybe it means: teach you how to use AI tools for everything that doesn't imply creativity (i.e. using AI to do researches on a topic that will serve your story, like police procedures, history, science, anything really)
I'm optimistic and I really hope it is about that because I don't want to give bad advice! Especially because I deeply hope a teacher would not give students a task that goes against what school and studies aim for!
I hope my answer make sense btw!
