TERM-talk,,,LunarStorm,,,Classmates.com,,, and SixDegrees.com and my fave at the time ICQ.

I see Lunar Storm as a precursor to social media, but Term-Talk and ICQ were really just messaging platforms...ICQ was pretty good though. That said, Term-talk did launch before Classmates (well before).
