Chat problems fixed. We went over our max concurrent users.

Hey all,

We have now fixed a chat issue that lasted for ~16 hours.

The bug:

New messages weren't showing in real-time. Messages still sent, but you had to refresh the page or reopen the app to see them. Notifications also partially didn't fire, so you may have missed messages without realizing.

What happened:

We hit our concurrent active user ceiling for chat yesterday, and the service that handles our messaging had to be upgraded.

We're going to set up proper monitoring for our core services to make sure this doesn't happen again.
