Why do we work 5 days to enjoy 2 but nobody questions it?

People do question it. In fact, people questioning the work week are the reason you "enjoy" a five day work week. During the industrial age people worked 10+ hour days six or seven days a week.
There are those pushing for a four day work week at this point but don't hold you breath for it to be a societal norm anytime soon.
Yep. People are too poor to push for 4 days a week - this is probably intentional by design. When people need to work to survive, there’s not much time or leverage to push for anything better.
Typically, especially when 4 day work week becomes more of a norm 40 hours will still be the normal/expected. Peeps will be making the same because they will be working the same amount of hours. Many business models will fight this because it will require an adjustment to their structure.
Change is hard.
I spent over 20 years trying to climb some imaginary ladder working as many hours and make as much money as I could before I realized I needed better work/life balance. I now work 3 nights and have 4 off. I make enough to pay my bills and save a couple hundred each month and that's good enough for me. It took well into my 30s to figure this out, but I'm glad I'm not living the workaholic life anymore.
