The Apostle Peter issued one of the New Testament's strongest warnings, not about persecution from pagan governments or attacks from an unbelieving culture, but about deception arising from within the Church itself. Peter understood that the greatest danger to Christianity would often come from leaders who retained the language of faith while abandoning its foundation. Nearly two thousand years later, his warning deserves renewed attention.
