Pierpont Community and Technical College hosts career fairs for upcoming graduates

FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WBOY) — Pierpont Community and Technical College is preparing its students for post-graduation opportunities by hosting numerous career fairs this spring.

Wednesday marked the first of three career fairs scheduled for April across Pierpont’s multiple campuses. Seventeen local business representatives were welcomed to Pierpont’s Advanced Technology Center in Fairmont to speak with hopeful prospects.

Pierpont Career Counselor Hunter Davis said that when organizing this event, Pierpont wanted to bring in providers who match up with the different academic paths offered at the school.

“Its so easy to get lost in the modern digital landscape of job applications and job opportunities and all kinds of stuff. It’s really about making those personal direct connections in your community, face-to-face interactions and to get that experience of having that conversation,” Davis said.

The second career fair will follow on April 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Gaston Caperton Center in Clarksburg and will focus on career opportunities in criminal justice, early childhood education, emergency medical services, physical therapy assisting and veterinary technology.

The final career fair will be held on April 23 from 9 a.m. to noon at the RCB National Aerospace Education Center in Bridgeport. This event will feature employers representing aviation maintenance technology, applied process technology, petroleum technology, welding, manufacturing, oil and gas and power generation.
